We’re lucky to have cattle here on the farm. They fertilize the soil, promote new/healthy grass and clover growth, suppress weeds and sequester carbon. These are Santa Gertrudis and this little guy was literally born on the fourth…

This is the first beef breed recognized in the United States by the USDA in 1940 and originated from the King Ranch here in Texas. They are big, gentle, beautiful creatures and, so cute when they’re young. Just a note though – don’t get between the mommas and their little ones. 🙂
