Spring Season ’15

Posted on

Hey y’all –

It’s getting to be that time again – Spring will be here soon!  With good moisture content and reasonably mild temps things are looking good for the season.  Seeding has started, seedlings are growing, first round of onion/leeks are in the ground, the fields have been refreshed, and we’re stoked.  We’ll begin CSA deliveries in April and are really looking forward to seeing everyone again!

We’ll try a few new things this year too – like switching from our traditional crates to reusable canvas totes for CSA pick-ups.  And for those wondering no, we’re not giving up our namesake but figure that the totes may be easier to carry along/stow every week v. that big wooden box.  We’ll utilize the crates for bulk deliveries and market stuff so you’ll still see them around.  As usual. we’ll try out some new varieties this year too – there’s one in particular we’re very curious about, it’s a hybrid of kale and brussels out of the UK…  Has a bunch of different market names but could be very interesting. We’ll see how that does!

If you have any questions about the year ahead, just give us a shout!  It’s going to be awesome.

We’ve still got a ton of winter chores to finish (some more plumbing issues to address, fence lines to clear, wood to be cut, regrade the farm drive, etc.) but we’ll get to them as time permits.  Heck, we might even wash the trucks this weekend if it’s really gonna be 70+ degrees this weekend!

Enjoy!
